Fat transfer
questions.

How does fat transfer work?

We take fat from where you don't want it and place it where you do.

  • Harvest. Gentle awake liposuction collects fat and sculpts the area it came from.
  • Refine. The fat stays sealed in a sterile system, where it's washed and concentrated.
  • Place. Your surgeon places it in tiny ribbons from many angles, so every bit is surrounded by healthy tissue.
  • Settle. Fat that settles in stays permanently, and the area it came from is slimmer.
What makes the Heart method different?
  • Gentle, vibrating awake lipo that keeps fat cells healthy.
  • A closed, sterile system from start to finish, with the fat never exposed to open air.
  • An antibiotic wash before placement.
  • Smooth, controlled delivery instead of hand-pushed syringes.
  • Ultra-small, soft-tipped cannulas that leave tiny entry points.
  • Surgeons who do fat transfer every day.
How much of the fat stays?

About 70%. Around 30% is naturally reabsorbed in the first 4–6 weeks, so we place a little extra. You may look fuller at first, and that's on purpose.

Can I use someone else's fat?

No, never. Fat from another person would be attacked by your immune system and could cause serious infection. Only your own fat is safe. If you're worried you don't have enough, ask us, because patients are often surprised where we can find it.

How do you prevent fat necrosis?

Fat necrosis (hard lumps of fat that didn't survive) usually comes from injecting large amounts in one spot. We place tiny ribbons from many angles so every bit gets nourished. To date, we haven't had a case.

I take Ozempic® or another GLP-1. What should I do?
  • If you need to keep or gain weight, stop about 4 weeks before surgery.
  • If you need to lose weight first, stop 2 weeks before.
  • Either way, restart about 2 months after surgery, under your doctor's guidance, once the new fat is established.
Are fat transfer results permanent?

Yes. Once the transferred fat settles in, it behaves like any other fat: it grows if you gain weight and shrinks if you lose it. There's nothing to replace or redo.
