Know before
you go.
Prepare for your procedure, from planning ahead to getting home.
Step 1 of 5 · Plan ahead
Make room for recovery.
Review your plan
Discuss your procedure, medical clearance and all medications and supplements with Heart. Tell us about any changes in your health. Do not stop prescribed medication without instructions.
Payment & time off
Complete payment two weeks before your procedure. Plan time away from work and help with daily responsibilities. Your return depends on your procedure and job.
Travel & support
Arrange a responsible adult for discharge and your first night. Confirm travel and accommodation with your coordinator before booking.
Get ready at home.
Medication review
Ask which medicines and supplements to pause and when to restart them. Blood thinners require a plan with your prescribing clinician. Avoid tobacco and alcohol as instructed.
Recovery supplies
Have absorbent pads, towels, protective bedding and loose clothing ready. Heart provides a compression garment, initial drainage supplies and a BBL pillow when applicable.
Aftercare
Arrange assistance for your first two showers. If you need professional support at home or a hotel, contact an independent aftercare provider in advance.
Check the details.
Arrival
Confirm your appointment time. Heart is at 8671 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 500, Beverly Hills, CA 90210. Use the private parking and building instructions sent by your coordinator.
Food & fluids
Follow your procedure-specific eating, drinking and medication instructions. Heart’s awake-procedure guide includes breakfast and hydration; confirm your own plan before the day.
What to bring
Pack ID, prescription payment or insurance details, socks, sunglasses, hair ties, snacks and a towel for your ride home. Leave valuables at home.
Arrive comfortable.
Clothing & timing
Wear loose, dark clothing that is easy to put on. Allow several hours at Heart. Your coordinator will confirm your arrival and expected pickup time.
At the office
Take the elevator to the fifth floor and ring the doorbell. Your nurse will greet you. Your surgeon will review the plan and complete your markings.
Medication
Take sedating medication only when instructed by your medical team. Review any last-minute questions before treatment begins.
Have your support ready.
Your ride
A responsible adult must sign you out and take you home or to your hotel. Do not drive yourself. Rideshare arrival is allowed; discharge requires your responsible adult.
Your first night
Plan for an adult to stay with you for the first 12 hours. Your nurse will contact your ride about an hour before pickup. Arrange food and a comfortable recovery space.
Next steps
Review prescriptions and discharge instructions before leaving. Open the Recovery Guide for care steps after your procedure.
These guides cover awake liposuction and fat transfer. Surgical skin removal and other procedures may need different care. Your Heart Team’s personalized instructions take priority.
Support before you arrive.
Independent aftercare
Arrange care at home or a hotel through CareRecover or LA AfterCare. Contact the provider for availability and pricing.
After your procedure
Use the Recovery Guide for practical care steps and What’s Normal to understand changes during healing.
