Gentle care.
Personal recovery.
Manual lymphatic massage uses light, rhythmic movements to encourage fluid movement. When appropriate after surgery, it may help ease swelling, tightness and discomfort.

This specialized technique is gentle. Your surgical team will confirm when massage is appropriate and which areas can be treated.
What it involves.
Light, rhythmic skin movements support lymphatic fluid movement. Treatment is adapted to your procedure, healing stage and comfort.
What to expect.
Gentle treatment may help reduce swelling and ease tightness. It should not cause significant pain or new bruising. Deep pressure is not used to “break up” firm areas.
Care at Heart.
Book recovery massage appointments through the patient portal. Your care team can advise on timing, treatment areas and whether further sessions may be helpful.
Massage
questions.
When can I start?
Start only when your surgical team approves. Timing depends on your procedure and healing. After skin tightening such as Renuvion, wait at least five days and follow your team’s instructions.
Can fat-transfer areas be massaged?
Do not massage areas that received transferred fat, including the breasts or buttocks, for at least two months and until your surgeon clears them. This applies even if massage is approved elsewhere.
Is massage required?
Not every patient needs massage. Your team will recommend whether it fits your recovery plan. It complements your prescribed care, compression and gentle movement.
What should I avoid?
Avoid aggressive pressure, cupping and deep-tissue massage during early recovery. Use rollers or massage guns on treated areas only with your surgeon’s specific approval.
When should I contact Heart before a session?
Contact your care team for worsening pain, spreading redness or warmth, fever, wound problems, or new or enlarging swelling. Stop massage if it causes significant pain, new bruising or increased swelling.
